Proverb 6: 20 – 23

My son, observe the commandment of your father, and do not forsake the teaching of your mother; bind them continually on your heart; tie them around your neck. When you walk about, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk to you. For the commandment is a lamp, and the teaching is a light.

Father, what would you like to show me about this verse?

Ivey, my children believe that I have given them commandments to bind them. I never lead my children into bondage but rather into freedom. The reason why I gave you this passage of scripture is so that you can be free and yet in your freedom be safe and secure. My words are a light unto your feet. They light the path before you so that you will not stumble and so you will see the way which you should go. How would you follow a path at night without a light to guide you?

My teachings, my words and my commandments have all been given to you as a blessing. They keep you. When you sleep, they watch over and guard you. When you awaken, they are there to talk with you. You are not alone because I have sent my Word to you. Hearken to the voice of the scriptures. Listen as I call out to you from the pages of your Bible. Listen to the leadership and teaching of your elders. I have put all these elements into the body so that you may be safe, secure, enlightened, and blessed. My ways always lead to overflowing blessing. Your cup runneth over because you listen to the voice of my Word. I have sent you my Son, I sent to you the best I have. Listen, observe, and pay attention because I desire to guide you daily. Even as you sleep you will hear my voice speaking to you. Put on my commandments, my words, and my teachings as a robe. Be blessed!
